Back to Town

My Home on the Range

Wyoming is a widowed rancher; she lost her husband to a rattle snake bite and rather than giving up, she decided to run the ranch by herself. Life hasn't been easy for her, in fact, none of know her real name. We just know that she's moved to us from Wyoming and that's what we've nicknamed her.

Hello, I'm Wyoming. I opened a cattle ranch with my husband Charles in 1870 when we moved to Texas from the state of Wyoming. Upon his tragic passing, I chose to begin keeping a journal. I'm sharing this with all of you so you can understand my journey, and the trials of being a female cattle rancher.

An image of the cattle ranch owned by Wyoming and her late husband Charles. The ranch has a wooden bar with saddles hanging up. Two of the saddles have rope to be used as a lasso. Behind the ranch is a wooded area with paddocks and grassland.
